Former Home and Away star Tammin Sursok attended an anti-gun rally Thursday after her daughter was caught up in the horrific school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.

Three children and three adults at The Covenant School in Nashville were tragically killed in the mass shooting Monday morning.

Tammin, 39, lives in Nashville with husband Sean McEwen and their two daughters, Phoenix, nine, and Lennon, three.

Their eldest daughter attends a school very close to The Covenant school and was locked down as a precaution.

The actress posted to Instagram the morning of the shooting and was incredibly distraught when she told her followers that the Phoenix school was closed.

She described the ordeal as “too close to home” for many parents in America, where school shootings occur almost every year.

The mother-of-two has spoken out about her anti-gun views and attended a protest outside the Tennessee State Capitol on Thursday.

She, along with thousands of others, held signs reading “Protect children, no guns” and “School attendance should not be a death sentence.”

The actress shared several photos and videos of the rally on Instagram, pleading with US lawmakers to change the country’s gun laws.

In the caption, she wrote, “We all want change! Yes, I know we all have different opinions and I respect them all. I’m so open to the conversation – but let’s START somewhere!

“Today was very emotional. The moment I walked to the main building, I started to cry. So many of us cried. We can’t live like this anymore and we all know it.

“We don’t just want change, we need change, our lives depend on it.”

The Pretty Little Liars star said she used to be afraid to speak out on political issues for “fear of hate and ridicule,” but now she’s done keeping quiet.

She added, “I’ve had so many conversations today with conservatives, Democrats, Republicans and it’s unanimous: Something has to be done.

“We all want to send our kids to school and know they’re coming home.”

To try and keep her daughters safe, Tammin bought them bulletproof backpacks, but said “this is not normal.”

“We know it’s NOT NORMAL to buy bulletproof backpacks and lace-free shoes so our kids don’t fall when they run from a gunman!” she continued in the Instagram post.

“I beg you not to be silent. I beg you to try to find a way to move forward together.

“I beg you if you have a social media platform to start the conversation with your followers.

“This has never been an argument about legally owning a gun as a law-abiding citizen. That has never been the problem. Sensible and reasonable regulations that make sense. For all of us!!!

‘Let’s get together. We are so much more alike than different. We can do this.’

On Monday, Tammin was left elderly when she learned that her daughter’s school had been closed as a precaution.

“There has been an active shooter in one of the schools in Nashville… It’s right next to my daughter’s school. She’s in lockdown, she’s fine,” she said at the time.

“I know a lot of other moms are totally hysterical and shaking right now because I can’t believe this is going to keep happening. And you always think it won’t happen to you.’
