Several organizations including The Tennessee Firearms Association, The National Police Association, The Tennessean, and The Tennessee Star filed a lawsuit for the writings to be released.

Last week, The Appellate Court heard arguments related to this case after the trial court judge decided to allow the Covenant parents, school, and church to intervene in this case.
The petitioners are now fighting that decision.
On the other hand, almost all of The Covenant School families are very much against the release of the writings, and fear this would create a copycat effect and further traumatize their students.
Meanwhile, Governor Bill Lee (R) has been calling for transparency.
The Court of Appeals judges don't have a deadline to make a decision, which means this could take days, weeks, or even months.
